Audi has revealed the latest edition to its growing line-up of e-tron vehicles, in the form of the A3 e-tron 'technical study' concept.
Arriving little more than a week after the appearance of the petrol-electric A5 e-tron Hybrid concept, the A3 e-tron is a fully-electrified prototype in the vein of the company's earlier EV offerings.

Arriving little more than a week after the appearance of the petrol-electric A5 e-tron Hybrid concept, the A3 e-tron is a fully-electrified prototype in the vein of the company's earlier EV offerings.
Power for the A3 e-tron concept is provided by an electric motor that produces 110kW and 270Nm of torque, putting it in the range of the 118kW/250Nm 1.8 litre TFSI petrol-powered A3.
Energy for the electric motor is drawn from a 26.5kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined, this arrangement offers a driving range of around 140km and a 0-100km/h time of 11.2 seconds (compared to the 1.8 TFSI model's 8.0 seconds).
A full recharge will take four hours with a specialised 400V rapid charger, or up to nine hours from a standard home power outlet.
On the styling front, there's little to separate the A3 e-tron concept from its regular petrol and diesel counterparts. Inside is a modified instrument cluster that provides the usual run of electric vehicle data, including remaining charge and driving range.

Audi has offered no word on a production future for the A3 e-tron concept. As BMW moves to bring its ActiveE electrified 1 Series to market, this latest e-tron concept could be a preview of things to come.
